NAME;; Shadow
AGE;; 4 years
GENDER;; Male
BREED;; German Sheppard; Black
SUMMARY;; friendly-looking; strong; dependable; rugged; torn-up;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION;; Shadow is a very rugged dog, with branches and leaves caught in his shabby black coat. He has a large black nose, large round emerald green eyes, and large ears, making for a friendly looking face. He is skinny due to barely getting enough to eat, but everything on him is muscle, so he looks strong enough not to be bothered by very many things, even if he wouldn't fight them. He has large paws, with rough pads due to walking around all day with no where to go. Over all, he's very rough looking, like a sad stray.
SCARS;; One large one across his chest from a past battle. He has a few smaller scars because he was a police dog before the virus struck. There's a bullet hole in his left ear.
FLAWS;; Shadow is very lonely, ever since his humans died, so he'll work for anyone he meets just to have someone to talk to or even be around.
FEARS;; Shadow is afraid to love anyone like he loved his humans because he's afraid of loosing them.
LIKES;; Shadow likes music, especially the classical music that his humans used to play in the house whenever he and his master returned home. It soothes mind and calms his nerves.
DISLIKES;; Shadow dislikes rats, he thinks that their disease carrying vermin ((which they are)), and wouldn't eat one even if he was starving, but kills them as soon as he sees them.
IDEALS;; Shadow is very protective of his friends, and will sacrifice his life to protect them. His police force training made him very clever and he knows how to deal with certain situations without panicking. He also makes a great friend as well as a body-guard.
PERSONAL DESCRIPTION;; Shadow is very calm, very friendly, and can hold a conversation very well. He misses his humans, and is usually in very deep thought about them, making him surprisingly quiet for someone who loves conversation when he's alone. He'll make friends with anyone except rats, and longs to find humans again. He's a good listener, and loves pups, since his master's kids loved him as much as their father and treated him like a protector. Over all, he's very lonely, but very friendly.
PARENTS;; Father- Stray, Fang; Mother- Police force dog, Sissy. died of sickness.
SIBLINGS;; Older siblings, Sissy's first litter: Fang- Male. named after his father; Lily- Female. police force dog, died in an accident; Cookie- Female. adopted by an elderly family. Sissy's Second litter ((he was born in this one)): Kinder- Male. police-force dog, was killed by the other dogs. Ginger- Female. was adopted by Shadow's master's sister. Tag- Male. died as a puppy because he was killed by Fang.
HISTORY;; Shadow was born in his mother's second litter, and for a while, he and Kinder were the only one's his master kept other than Sissy. When Sissy died, Kinder and Shadow were left to fend for themselves against the other dogs. Kinder was killed, but Shadow survived and trained to be a great police dog.
Shadow grew up with his master's family being his own. Every day, after work, his master would drive him home, and he would stick his head out the window, enjoying the wind as it blew over his face. They would return home, were his master's wife would have set up the CD player, and the beautiful piano music filled the room. His master would sit with his wife and read the paper that the black German Shepherd had retrieved earlier that morning, and the children would sit on the floor with him and pet his head, brush his coat, and if they were tired, just lie down by his and fall asleep on his tail or stomach.
Everything changed when one of the two children, the younger one, got sick. The doctor had no idea what was wrong, and soon the other child and the master's wife grew ill, too. The news arrived that the thing making everyone sick was a deadly and contagious virus, and that the government has trapped everyone in the city behind a huge wall. After just a couple days, the two children were dead and the master's wife was dying. Shadow was scared and confused, all his family members were dying out, and he had no idea what was doing it. Eventually, the master became ill, and was on his death bed. The last thing he did was drive shadow to his sister's house, and that was the last the canine would ever see of his beloved master.
The master's sister had adopted Shadow's sister and named her Ginger, so the dog had some another canine to talk to. The master's sister was called Shelly, and Shelly's three children were also ill. Her husband was a doctor, but even he was baffled by the virus that was destroying the town. Ginger explained that all the humans were becoming sick, but no matter how much time she and Shadow spent around the ill, they themselves never became infected.
Shelly became ill, and was already devastated by the death of two of her three children. Her husband searched frantically for a cure, but none was found, and Shelly died on the same night as her last child had. Shelly's husband left enough dog-food out for Ginger and Shadow to live off of for a little while, and opened all the doors so that they could get out, before leaving to bury his wife and children, already infected by the virus. Shadow left, wanting Ginger to be able to live off the food longer by not eating any of it. He left to fend for himself, moving from place to place and searching for the master he knew in his mind was dead, but hoped in his heart was alive, waiting with the human family he had loved for him to return home.

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE;; Shadow awoke to the sound of the birds chirping outside the window. The sun shone in through the window brightly, warming his dark pelt as he lay across the familiar rug he used as a bed. He lifted his dark head, emerald eyes scanning the room for any signs of life. There was no one there, but the black German Shepherd could hear voices coming from downstairs. Slowly, he rose to his paws, and walked over to the open bedroom door. It seemed like yesterday that he was wondering the streets, cold and alone, searching for his family, and now he had woken up to find himself in his human's house, sleeping on his rug. Could it have all possibly been a dream? Was there never a virus or illness or death or loss in the first place?
Shadow wondered down the hallway, seeing the children's toys scattered in a small area on the floor as he passed by their bedroom. He reached the stairs, and walked down them slowly, looking around curiously. Everything seemed so strangely familiar, like life was repeating itself, like nothing could go wrong. The canine walked into the living room to see his humans. His humans, they were still alive! They really had been waiting for him to return home that while time!
"C'mere, boy," he heard his master call. He ran over to the middle of the room where the children sat. They squealed with delight as they reached out to pet him and hugged him tightly. He felt them nuzzle into his dark coat, as his master smiled and chuckled, reaching out to pat him on the head. His hand was just above his head when-
Shadow's eyes shot open and he peered out into the grayness of the fog that had settled in over the city. Everything was silent, and death stalked over the buildings, searching for anyone that his virus must have missed. It had all been dream, and he had returned to cruel world of reality. Every human was really gone, and Shadow had to face the fact that he was starving and needed something to eat. He stood up, his head hanging low and his tail dragging behind him. He missed his family, and would have given anything to have them back.
"I wonder if anything interesting will happen today," he muttered, looking down at the gray city floor.
